On 3-4 July 2018, Amend organized a strategic workshop for their safe school area work in 10 African countries. NGO leaders from Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, Tanzania, and Zambia attended the workshop. Furthermore, the Workshop has been developed and facilitated by YOURS.
The Amends’ safe school area program provides simple, targeted infrastructure measures – such as footpaths, speed humps, bollards, and zebra crossings – that are aimed to decrease vehicle speeds and separate child pedestrians from traffic.
During the above-mentioned Workshop, it has been created a list of knowledge and lessons learned and the related challenges. The workshop finished with a presentation from each NGO leader to the representatives of the FIA Foundation and Puma Energy Foundation.
