31/08/2018 - The world's most dangerous school run: How millions of children risk their lives on Africa's death highways

"More than 85,000 African children are killed or injured on the roads every year - and the average child's school run is a truly terrifying experience with the risk of death at any moment"(Tom Parry, Daily Mirror). 

According to the Report elaborated by Tom Parry, children in Sub-Saharan Africa daily risk to die more because of a road crash than because of malaria or HIV

Thus, despite the fact that African countries have a very low rate in terms of motorization, they have actually the most dangerous roads in the world. The majority of road crashes involves young children, usually in the way from their house to school.
